Is still producing some coho right along with a good number of steelhead now in the river.
Boat and shore anglers are catching a fair to good number of coho and steelhead. The chinook run is pretty much over as most of the fish left are extremely dark in color. Look for more steelhead after the rain this week.
The upper half of the river is the most productive section especially between the M-37 Bridge and the launch at Bowman's Bridge. Try natural spawn or an orange or pink fly in the flies only section.
The salmon run is in full swing. A good number of anglers are fishing the flies only section with white flies. Maple Leaf Campground was a hot spot where a good number of chinook were caught on orange flies.
Pere Marquette Lake has good salmon action for those trolling.
Has very good salmon action from M-31 to the flies only section.
Has groups of salmon from the M-31 Bridge in Ludington to the flies only water in Baldwin. The fish are consistently moving upstream at night and in the early morning but as the sun gets higher, the fish are concentrating in the deeper holes. No fish were on the gravel yet. Try flies and small streamers in the upper stretches or drifting spawn in the lower stretches.
A few salmon have come up into the river and fresh fish were caught at the bridge on Pere Marquette Highway when using spawn. Fish were caught throughout the river all the up to the flies only section above Green Cottage. Steelhead were caught in the Rainbow Rapids by those using a #3 Mepps spinner.
Fishing was slow but those still interested have caught a few resident brown trout on streamers in the fly's only section.
Water levels are low and clear. Fly fishing is hard at this time. Deerfly season is just getting started so bring your bug spray.
Is producing some brown trout.
Catch rates were slow due to muddy water. Small brown trout were caught on spinners.
Fishing slowed with bug hatches taking place all day long. Worms have been working but an egg sucking leach fly worked better. More suckers have moved up on the gravel from Walhalla Road to M-37.
Those fishing the flies only section did well when using streamers. Suckers were also caught.
